- The new Fire Station was completed in 1889 at a cost of £1,225, officially opening the following year. Prior to this, all the fire-fighting equipment was housed in a shed in the Market Yard, Lynn Street.

Shown on 1897 1:2500 OS map, still on 1919 1:2500 OS map, still on 1939/1940 1:2500 OS map, still on 1955 1:2500 OS map, still on 1969 1:2500 OS map, still on 1975/1979 1:10000 OS map - maps show different building being used, latterly one that has been demolished, but earlier maps show building that is still in existence being used

Main appliance bay of original station still exists, but accommodation block, tower and a smaller bay have been demolished. Newer single storey garages have been built in their place and appliance bay has a new roof
